What was I supposed to say to him?

He said that he knew marijuana was legal now

When I was a teenager, I started smoking weed. Everyone was doing it back then, and I never got caught. I had a suspicion my parents knew I was using weed, but they didn’t say too much. At least I wasn’t using heroin or meth. Now, I am the parent. I still use marijuana to help me relax at times, but I don’t do it in front of my family. I sit at the old picnic table in the backyard that is far away from my kids rooms. Last week, I got home from work and I heard my son in the backyard. I headed back to see why he was up so late. There he sat with a marijuana cigarette in his mouth and three of his buddies. They were loud and obnoxious until they saw me standing there. I told the kids to get into my car and I drove all three boys to their homes, watching until they got into the homes. My son asked me if I was going to call their parents, but I couldn’t answer him. I didn’t know what I was going to do with him, so how was I supposed to know what was going to happen with them. I asked him how long he had been smoking marijuana and he rolled his eyes. We sat down at the picnic table and we started to talk. I asked him if he was ready to ruin his life, since he was only sixteen. He said that he knew marijuana was legal now. I reminded him that so was alcohol and cigarettes. They also had stiff penalties if you used them when you were underage.
