I find it to be especially remarkable how particular perspectives that are introduced to you as a little one go on to actually frame the way you look at life.
I used to laugh at those official lines of the shrink telling the person on the couch to tell them everything about their childhood. That seemed to be nothing but a joke to me. However, the older I have become, I honestly see how true that can be. I guess that I have views in my adult life that were planted there as a little one. Take recreational marijuana use for instance. My parents made a point of just scaring the living daylights out of myself and others about marijuana products. And there was nothing rational in their scary statements. Plus, they had no idea in the slightest what they were talking about given they had never even tried cannabis or cannabis products. What was even more hypocritical was the fact they were big time drinkers. But, all that fear based marijuana product bashing honestly had the desired effect. I easily stayed clear of it even through university plus everybody was already using recreational marijuana at that point in my life. But then, I took a giant leap plus went shopping at a local cannabis spot near where I live. I simply had the desire to easily know for myself what this was all about. The staff helped me pick a lower THC content cannabis edible. I took it home, sat in the backyard plus had one of the better afternoons of my life. So, it certainly goes to show you that everything we happen to be taught as children isn’t always true. And that actually has been the case for me plus recreational marijuana.
