A construction company started clearing the lot across the street from the marijuana dispensary.
- About 4 weeks ago construction began and since then there have been homeless people in and out of the lot in the middle of the night.
Last week we found a couple of people sleeping in the parking lot of the marijuana dispensary. The homeless folks were camped out near the trash can where the wind is blocked in all directions. When we had problems with the homeless people, I told the owner of the marijuana shop that we needed to hire a night shift security officer. When I came to work a few days later, the back door had been pried with a bar. No one got in, but they must have been trying for a while. At that point I decided to contact the security company that we use for our dispensary and I asked the company if they could provide me with a night time security guard that would walk the perimeter and check on things from clothes until open. The security company gave me a price that was a little bit higher than I expected. My boss and the owner of the marijuana business were happy to pay for the officer after he saw the attempt on the back door. If the person had 10 more minutes, they would have been able to enter the marijuana shop without much detection. The silent alarm takes about thirty seconds or longer to trigger after the door is breached. The thief could be in and out with five grand in pot products in less time than that.
