A few years back, after a long period of time with back-and-forth among powers that be as well as powers that totally wanted to be, the state legislature passed a bill to legalize medical cannabis for the state… Almost right away, all kinds of trouble began.
A substantial percentage of the population was not for it, plus the law had plenty of caveats in it… One of those caveats limited the number of medical cannabis farms.
Right away, a process was started to have farms apply to be the only medical marijuana farms for the state. I suppose they were only having so many. Soon, the ones were chosen, however that was not to be. The medical cannabis farms were not allowed to produce because soon after the ones were chosen, there was a tremendous lawsuit. Apparently, not a single approved grower of medical weed happened to be a minority. The lawsuit brought the medical marijuana business to a major standstill. There were dozens of people financially plus legally prepared to open up medical cannabis stores all over the state, however with no product to sell, they couldn’t really open up. The next troublemakers in the line of the medical marijuana battle were the marijuana users themselves. The law was not allowing products that could be smoked. Medical marijuana would be limited to edibles, oils plus tinctures, CBD tablets plus creams, plus other similar products. Again, another lawsuit came from this. The legislators were under the impression that smoking medical marijuana was basically a way to legitimize being a druggie. They feared recreational marijuana would follow up fast, plus perhaps they are right. I haven’t noticed any certain drawbacks with medical marijuana being legalized, so recreational marijuana stores are actually next in the pipeline, I am sure.
