It seems basically like a harmless thing to say, however they can be so stupid, in my humble opinion, because of course that allowed the lawyer to rightly argue a valid point that had not hitherto been brought up before. If something is illegal in public, that means it is entirely legal in private! Public intoxication is a crime, however you can get drunk all you want when you are at home. See her point?
