When I started my new job, I was thrilled.
I started working at a marijuana dispensary.
I like my job even though I have a lot of work to do until I become a full employee. Right now, all I am allowed to do is stay at the front counter and check IDs of the people coming into the store. I am working on my cannabis education certificate which will allow me to work as a budtender. I don’t mind working on the front counter, but I am excited to be able to be a budtender. The cannabis dispensary has a lounge where a lot of people come in and sit while sampling some of our wares. Last week, a new customer came through the door. He was checking me out as I looked at his ID. He made me a bit uncomfortable, but I just shrugged it off. He bought ½ ounce of marijuana and he spent most of the afternoon in our lounge. He did the same thing twice more that week. Since he did buy marijuana, we had no reason to ask him to leave the lounge or the marijuana dispensary. That weekend, I was walking out with the rest of my coworkers and I noticed the same man was sitting in a car that was parked next to my car. I was feeling really uncomfortable, and I asked the manager to walk me to my car. When I started my car and drove away, the man followed after me. It wasn’t until I parked in my driveway that he sped up and drove away. I called my manager to say I was safe and what had happened. I didn’t need to call the police. My manager already had.
