On Sunday and Thursday afternoons, the cannabis dispensary and lounge are open until 1 am; The dispensary officially closes at midnight, because the state does not allow the sale of medical or recreational cannabis after 11:59 PM, however we can still keep the loans open until 1, and every one of us have people inside right up until the last hour.
We usually have the same crowd of people while in the weekends, but every once in a while I will see a modern face… For the past six weeks, the same guitar playing guy has been here every Sunday night, and he buys a pre-rolled marijuana joint from the dispensary and 6th in the corner by himself. He smokes the entire pre-rolled marijuana joint and then starts playing guitar. He takes requests from other people in the lounge and he will also do requests from the dispensary staff, but after 3 weekends in a row, the dispensary was packed with people and the loan was full. We were not paying the guy to play, but it was clear that he was the reason why the place was so busy, it’s been six weeks since the guitar playing guy has started playing Sunday afternoons and the owner of the dispensary decided to have a meeting with him this morning. He provided to give the guy a full-time gig on Sundays and Thursday afternoons. The dispensary owner provided to pay the guy $250 for 4 hours of work, but the guy said he would rather play for free. He doesn’t want to be tied down to a schedule, because that will take away all of the fun.
