I’ve always looked very young for my age. When I was old enough to buy cigarettes, I got carded all of the time. Sometimes people didn’t even know that I was old enough to buy R rated movies. I had the same problem when I turned 21. I got asked for our identification card everywhere that I went where alcohol was used. When marijuana was legalized for recreational use, I got carded at the dispensary too. I didn’t have to feel too bad, because everyone going into the dispensary has to present an identification card. I’ve had a couple of people question the authenticity of our identification card, but a few weeks ago was the first time in a while. I went to a new dispensary downtown. My friends as well as I were hanging out at the skate park as well as I wanted to buy a couple of pre-rolls for the day. The two of us went to a dispensary close to the skatepark. The dispensary was pretty busy for a Friday day. I showed our ID to the security guard out front. He did not question it at all. Inside of the dispensary, another person scanned the ID to make sure that it was legal. My ID was scanned and of course there were no red flags. The lady behind the counter still questioned me about our age. I was in a disappointing mood that day as well as I snapped at the woman. She apologized as well as told me that they cannot be too sure. It seems like a load of hoopla to me. If our identification card is showing valid, then clearly I am the age that I am claiming; Just let me in the door so I can buy marijuana products love everyone else over 21.
